Peter Richetts - 4CCR's Technican.jpg

Dear fellow CCBI member and Friends,

I am a current member of Cairns Community Radio FM 89.1, as well as Chairperson of the Friends of 4CCR 89.1 FM. Please take a few minutes to read this Newsletter which contains some important information about the future stability and urgent repair of Cairns Community Radio, that has increasingly became fractured and insular since Mr Rod Coutts took office as President on 28th September 2009.

OVERVIEW

An Important Letter To The Financial Members Of Cairns FM89.1

(Ed: See related: http://friendsof4ccr.org/content/transmitter-facing-potential-fire-disas...)

3rd April 2010

Dear Valued Member,

You may or may not have been the recipient of an e-mail sent out by Mr. Donn Corcoran, dated 24th March 2010, with attached letter from Mr. Ross Parisi who claims that he is the elected Chairperson of “Friends of 4CCR”. Some of our members have raised concerns with me as to how Mr. Corcoran obtained their e-mail address in which to forward any type of correspondence to them.

'Friends’ Newsletter to Members of Cairns Community Radio 89.1 - 26 March 2010

Hello, my name is Ross Parisi and I was recently elected to the position of Chairperson of the ‘Friends of 4CCR/FM 89.1’

This is the first Newsletter that the ‘Friends’ have compiled and it is my privilege and duty to share it with you.

You may be aware that 4CCR/ FM 89.1 has been experiencing technical and managerial problems in recent months. If you are regular listener you will also have noticed that a number of presenters are no longer on air.
You may also have recently received a newsletter from Cairns Community Broadcasters Incorporated which stated that……

Report to Friends and Members - 21 March 2010

4CCR Transmitter Container and Generator 18/March/2010

Much has been said and even more has been written about 4CCR 89.1 FM, its imminent demise, the debilitating infighting, the disappointments, the lost opportunities and most seriously the erosion of community trust and dissipating sponsorship support.

Currently 4CCR is again under investigation by Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) for various breaches of the Code of Conduct and the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) for breaches of the Constitution. The Friends await with interest the findings of these investigations.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT

The new year has started with several program changes, and some more to come in the next few weeks.

We say farewell and thank you to several programs, including "Pizza Soup" and "In the Dog House", and we welcome aboard the Croatian program, soon to be followed by possibly the Russian and the Korean presenters. Please help them where you can, and of course make them feel very welcome to join our good spirited team of volunteer workers.
