Friends support Hyams' membership Appeal
The Friends meeting of 27th April 2010, decided to send the below attached letter to 4CCR's solicitor for their urgent attention. To this date no response has been received by the Friends or Michael Hyams.
For readers who are not familiar with the events surrounding this issue it concerns the revoking of Michael Hyams' membership of 4CCR on spurious grounds and his appeal rights.
Michael Hyams, is 77 years of age, and a well spoken gentleman. He is no rascal and no threat to Mr Coutts. He is not about to sabotage the radio station, in fact has never been a threat to its viability or its orderly function, yet Mr Coutts and his Management Committee saw fit to withdraw his membership.
He proposed to appeal his revocation of his membership under Section 21(c) of 4CCR's constitution. Under this rule his appeal would be heard by the general membership of the radio station.
However, this was rejected by Mr Coutts and his advice to Michael Hyams was that his appeal would be heard by the Management Committee, under Section 9 of the Constitution.
What a preposterous suggestion! His appeal is to be heard by the same Management Committee that had revoked his membership in the first place.
This action would be a denial of natural justice and must be reversed by Mr Coutts.
The Authorities have been informed of this abuse of power and the Friends await undeterred for their intervention.
